Half Day Camp: $440

Your child will spend a fun filled week immersed in the wonderful world of horses guided by knowledgeable counselors and in the company of great friends!  Camp is open to beginner through advanced riders ages 6 to 16. Advanced Camp is open to riders who are confident and can demonstrate good control with walking, trotting, and cantering. Advanced Camp riders will be riding both in the ring and out, learning cross country, dressage, and stadium jumping. Advanced Camp riders are welcome to bring their own horse for the week, trailering in, or stabling can be made available for an additional fee.

Misty Brae Farm’s camp program offers intensive, hands-on instruction in horsemanship, through a riding lesson and interactive training exercises that increase balance, coordination, strength, posture, leg contact, confidence, and increased stability on the horse.

 

Fun, educational games and horsemanagement lessons are part of the camp day.  Come join us to learn to ride or improve your equestrian skills in a fun and safe environment.

Facilities - The equestrian facility at Misty Brae Farm includes an indoor riding ring, 2 outdoor riding arenas, 1 dressage ring, wooded trails, fields, Cross country course, and an in ground pool 

Camp Staff - The program is directed by knowledgeable staff along with the great support of animal care specialists.

Equipment - All campers will need an approved riding helmet with an adjustable chin strap. Children will also need hard-soled, enclosed shoes with a ½” to ¾” heel. Campers will be most comfortable in suitable riding pants such as breeches or jodphurs.   Campers are also required to bring snacks, lunch, water bottle, tennis shoes, bathing suit, and change of clothes if desired.

Equipment Needed for Campers

  • All campers will need an approved riding helmet with an adjustable chin strap; hard-soled, enclosed boots and/or shoes with a ½” to ¾” heel.
  • Campers will be most comfortable in suitable riding pants such as breeches or jodphurs.
  • Campers need to bring their own snacks, lunch and water bottles.   Send the with extra water, they get thirsty during the riding.
  • Campers staying for full day should also bring a bathing suit for swimming in our pool 
  • Afternoon camp also includes western riding and other activities.
  • Please send your child with appropriate clothes for the weather.   
  • They will be outside for lessons.
  • Please label all your children's items (boots, helmets, sneakers, lunches)

  • Both Regular and Advanced Camp riders are welcome to bring their own horse for the week, trailering in, or stabling can be made available for an additional fee.

  • Campers also to see visits at the farm by ferriers and veternarians among others!
  • Fun, educational games are part of the camp day.

Camp Staff

  • The program is directed by the the owner and operator of Misty Brae Farm, Victoria (Tori) Hutcheson.
  • Tori is "A" graduate of the US Pony Club, and has competed through upper levels in Show Jumping, Three Day Eventing and Dressage.
  • In addition to training and riding, Tori has been teaching since 1985 .
  • Our camps also use additional trained instructors.
  • All campers are also assisted by trained counselors that help them learn about all aspects of horse care..
  • A "Camp Mom" is available to assist with the program throughout the day. 

Facilities

  • Misty Brae Farm's facility includes the following:
  • Large indoor ring allows for all weather riding, which extends the hours available to ride with its abundant lighting.
  • Two outdoor rings (one with lighting) provide an ideal place to learn how to ride at any of our camps or as part of our lesson programs. 
  • We also have access to wooded trails and open fields that are used at camps, weather permitting.
